Steps4Trees (Ökumene)

By participating in the "Steps4Trees"-Challenge, you’re supporting a reforestation project in the province of Misiones (Argentina)—initiated by our partner church, the Evangelical Church of La Plata.

Since 2020, its diaconal foundation, Fundación Hora de Obrar, has been implementing the “Crece Selva Misionera” project: Together with 1,219 farming families, educational institutions, and 16 Mbya-Guaraní communities (indigenous people), 383,087 native trees have been planted so far.

The collaboration with the National Institute for Yerba Mate (INYM) has been particularly effective: Trees are integrated into yerba mate cultivation areas so that the soil retains water better, erosion is reduced, biodiversity returns, and fewer pesticides are needed. In 2023, nine water sources were also protected, and 32 families in rural regions were supplied with clean water.
