Steps4Trees (Ökumene)

With our Step Challenge, we combine physical activity, community, and ecumenism in action: People, congregations, groups, and companies can donate based on the steps you’ve collected. The money supports the reforestation project “Crece Selva Misionera” in the province of Misiones in northeastern Argentina.

There, our partner church, the Evangelical Church of La Plata, works together with its diaconal foundation, Fundación Hora de Obrar, to protect and restore the Atlantic Rainforest.

Steps Become Trees

Since 2020, more than 380,000 native trees have already been planted in collaboration with farming families, educational institutions, and Mbya-Guaraní communities.

The trees grow, among other places, among yerba mate plants. They help to

• retain water in the soil,
• reduce erosion,
• restore habitats for animals and plants,
• reduce the use of pesticides,
• and provide families with a more sustainable livelihood in the long term.

The project also protects water sources and improves access to clean water in rural areas.
